Job summary

Insight Global is seeking an Operations Project Manager to oversee improvement initiatives across warehouse and distribution facilities. The role partners with operations leadership to deliver on-time, on-budget projects aligned with business goals.

Responsibilities include leading multi-facility projects, optimizing layouts and workflows, and developing SOPs. Significant travel (up to 90%) is required as you support greenfield launches and expansions across multiple sites.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of operations, warehouse, logistics, transportation, automotive, or supply chain experience.
• Experience supporting greenfield/start-up facilities or warehouse expansions.
• Exposure to CAPEX projects and facility buildouts.
• Experience leading process improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
• Strong project management with timelines, budgeting, risk assessment, and stakeholder coordination.
• Knowledge of warehouse layouts, inventory flow, safety programs, and facility operations.

Job description

The Operations Project Manager will oversee operational improvement initiatives across warehouse and distribution facilities, with a strong focus on safety, process optimization, project execution, and facility performance. This individual will partner with operations leadership to improve existing sites and support new facility launches while ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, and aligned with business objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

• Operations Improvement: Evaluate warehouse and distribution center operations to identify opportunities for increased productivity, improved material flow, reduced costs, and enhanced operational efficiency. Implement solutions and track results through KPIs and performance metrics.
• Project Management: Lead multiple operational projects simultaneously, including project planning, scheduling, budgeting, risk assessment, stakeholder communication, vendor coordination, and milestone tracking. Provide regular project updates to leadership teams.
• Greenfield & Expansion Support: Assist with new facility launches, warehouse expansions, and operational buildouts. Collaborate with leadership, vendors, and contractors to ensure facilities are designed and equipped to support operational goals. Focus on the operational and facility management aspects of the project rather than construction management.
• Warehouse Design & Layout Optimization: Analyze warehouse layouts, processes, and product flow to improve space utilization, inventory movement, labor efficiency, and overall throughput. Make recommendations for storage strategies, workflows, and facility sequencing.
• Safety & Risk Management: Conduct facility assessments, identify operational risks, and implement corrective actions to improve workplace safety. Support safety initiatives, incident investigations, and continuous improvement efforts aimed at reducing risk and improving compliance.
• Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs): Develop, document, implement, and maintain SOPs and work instructions that standardize operations, improve consistency, and ensure best practices are followed across facilities.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive Lean, Kaizen, and other operational excellence initiatives focused on improving safety, quality, delivery, and cost performance. Lead root cause analysis activities and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Work closely with operations, supply chain, transportation, engineering, quality, and executive leadership teams to align project objectives and operational priorities.
• Performance Reporting: Establish and monitor KPIs related to productivity, safety, quality, cost, and project execution. Present findings and recommendations to leadership and track progress against established goals.
• Travel & Site Support: Travel to warehouse and distribution locations to support new facility openings, operational assessments, project implementation, process improvement initiatives, and leadership-directed special projects.

Desired Skills & Experience:

• Able to travel up to 90% of time and based in the greater Dallas TX, Lexington KY, or Greensboro NC area
• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, Operations, Engineering, Business, or related field preferred
• 5+ years of operations, warehouse, logistics, transportation, automotive, or supply chain experience
• Experience supporting greenfield/start-up facilities or warehouse expansions
• Exposure to CAPEX projects and facility buildouts
• Experience leading process improvement and operational excellence initiatives
• Strong project management experience including timelines, budgeting, risk assessment, and stakeholder coordination
• Experience developing SOPs, workflow improvements, and warehouse optimization strategies
• Knowledge of warehouse layouts, inventory flow, safety programs, and facility operations
