Base pay range

$150,000.00/yr - $180,000.00/yr

Senior Project Manager

📍 Lebanon, New Jersey (On-site with field travel)

$150,000 – $185,000 base salary (DOE) + Annual Bonus, 401(k) with match, Comprehensive Benefits Package, PTO, Professional Development Support

Compensation is benchmarked against current New Jersey market averages for senior-level environmental/civil engineering project managers requiring a PE license and 15+ years of experience.

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Project Manager will lead, plan, and coordinate all Engineering Department activities while managing multiple high-value civil, environmental, and industrial wastewater projects. This role requires a client-focused, growth-oriented leader who excels in technical execution, project delivery, and team development.

Reports To: Chief Operations Officer / President

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Technical & Engineering Responsibilities
  • Deliver engineering services across civil, environmental, and industrial wastewater disciplines.
  • Perform design analysis, develop engineering cost estimates, and prepare design packages (drawings, specifications, CADD materials).
  • Oversee construction and field operations, ensuring compliance with design standards and safety regulations.
  • Lead and support permitting efforts for NJDEP/PADEP industrial wastewater discharge, soil erosion & sediment control, and general site planning.
  • Apply expert-level knowledge of federal regulations including RCRA, CERCLA, CWA, OSHA, TSCA.
  • Lead concurrent environmental projects involving Superfund, brownfield remediation, groundwater treatment, and infrastructure upgrades.
  • Prepare feasibility studies, remedial designs, O&M plans, and environmental characterization reports.
  • Monitor schedules, budgets, and project deliverables while maintaining strict QA/QC standards.
  • Build strong client relationships and ensure consistent project performance and customer satisfaction.
Management Responsibilities
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop staff including engineers, drafters, and administrative personnel.
  • Oversee project planning, scheduling, delegation, and quality management.
  • Collaborate with Marketing to drive regional business development and growth strategies.
  • Represent the company at client meetings, industry events, and community engagements.
  • Ensure staff utilization targets are met across offices and service lines.
  • Maintain consistent communication with clients and internal teams to ensure high-quality outcomes.
  • Empower project teams to meet performance goals, deliver top-tier results, and achieve successful financial execution.
REQUIRED EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental, Civil, or Chemical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
  • 15+ years’ experience in environmental engineering.
  • 6+ years of progressive management experience.
  • Active New Jersey Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
  • OSHA 40-Hour HAZWOPER & annual refresher required.
REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Technical expertise in landfill design & construction, wastewater treatment, and large-scale groundwater remediation.
  • Experience preparing proposals, budget estimates, and technical reports.
  • Strong communication skills (client presentations, stakeholder engagement, technical writing).
  • >Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project; familiarity with GIS, MicroStation, AutoCAD a plus.
  • Proven leadership, team supervision, and client relationship skills.
  • Ability to travel to project sites and regional offices as needed.
