Job description

Location: Ohio

Employment: Full-time

Travel: Fully onsite / project-based travel

Salary: $180,000–$200,000 base + bonus / potential RSUs or Per Diem

The Opportunity

We are working with a rapidly growing transmission contractor that is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a major transmission line project in Ohio.

The project forms part of a significant expansion of 765kV transmission infrastructure and is expected to run for approximately five years.

This is a newly created senior leadership position offering the opportunity to play a key role in establishing the project team, developing project processes and taking ownership of overall delivery.

With a growing pipeline of major transmission projects across multiple states, this position also provides a genuine long-term opportunity to progress into Project Executive and senior operational leadership.

The Role

The Senior Project Manager will have overall responsibility for the successful delivery of the project, including:

  • Leading the overall delivery of a major transmission line project.
  • Managing and developing a team of Project Managers, Assistant Project Managers and wider project personnel.
  • Working closely with field construction leadership to ensure strong coordination between project and field operations.
  • Taking ownership of project P&L, forecasting and financial performance.
  • Managing project headcount, resources and staffing requirements.
  • Providing leadership across procurement, commercial and financial functions.
  • Managing relationships with customers, GCs, subcontractors, field teams and internal leadership.
  • Driving project performance, schedule, quality and commercial outcomes.
  • Identifying and managing project risks, changes and evolving requirements.
  • Establishing effective project controls, processes and reporting structures.
  • Building and developing a high-performing project team.
  • Supporting the company's wider transmission growth and future major projects.
What We're Looking For

We are looking for an experienced transmission professional with a strong combination of project leadership, commercial understanding and field knowledge.

You should have:
  • Ideally 5+ years of T-Line experience across different voltage levels.
  • Experience working on 500kV or 765kV transmission projects is highly relevant.
  • Previous 765kV experience is preferred but not essential.
  • Experience managing large project teams and multiple project functions.
  • Strong understanding of P&L, project financials, forecasting and commercial management.
  • Strong leadership, communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working within a union construction environment.
  • The ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, changing project environment.
  • Willingness to work fully onsite and travel around the project footprint.

Strong Project Managers who are ready to take the next step into a Senior Project Manager position will also be considered.

The Person

This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys being close to the project and taking genuine ownership of outcomes.

The business is growing rapidly, so the successful candidate needs to be comfortable with:

  • Changing priorities
  • Evolving project requirements
  • Large and complex projects
  • Building teams and processes
  • Taking accountability for financial and operational performance

This is an opportunity for someone who wants to build something rather than simply manage a project from the sidelines.

The company has a significant pipeline of transmission work developing across multiple states.

For the right individual, this creates a long-term career path beyond the initial project, with potential progression into:

The initial project is expected to run for approximately five years, providing considerable stability while also offering exposure to future major transmission projects.

  • $150,000–$200,000 base salary, dependent on experience
  • Potential combination of cash bonus and RSUs
  • Vehicle allowance
  • Per diem or housing allowance depending on circumstances
  • Long-term project stability
  • Career progression into Project Executive / operational leadership

For out-of-state candidates, the typical expectation is to work onsite with the goal of providing a long weekend home approximately once per month, depending on project requirements.

Important

This is a fully onsite, project-based position.

Candidates must be comfortable with the travel, site-based nature and long-term commitment associated with a major transmission construction project.
