Job summary

Alexander Mechanical is seeking a Senior Mechanical Project Manager to lead commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects from planning through closeout. You will supervise schedules, budgets, procurement, subcontractors, documentation, field coordination, and client communication while focusing on safety, quality, schedule, profitability, and excellent customer relationships.

• Progressive experience managing commercial or industrial construction projects.
• Strong working knowledge of commercial or industrial project management, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, subcontract administration, and cost control.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with construction project management systems and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Manage mechanical construction projects from startup through completion and closeout.
• Review project scope, contracts, drawings, specifications, and other project requirements.
• Develop and maintain project schedules, budgets, forecasts, and cost controls.
• Coordinate purchasing, procurement, subcontractors, equipment, materials, and project resource needs.
• Work closely with field supervision and project teams to maintain schedule, quality, safety, and budget expectations.
• Monitor labor, material, equipment, subcontractor, and other project costs and address variances as needed.
• Manage project documentation, including submittals, RFIs, change orders, purchase orders, contracts, meeting documentation, and customer correspondence.
• Identify project risks, delays, scope issues, and cost concerns and coordinate timely solutions.
• Maintain strong working relationships with customers, general contractors, vendors, subcontractors, and internal departments.
• Attend project meetings and communicate project status, upcoming needs, risks, and action items.
• Review and manage change orders, additional work opportunities, and related project financial impacts.
• Coordinate project closeout, final documentation, punch list completion, and turnover requirements.
• Provide guidance and mentoring to Project Engineers and other project support team members as appropriate.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Progressive experience managing commercial or industrial construction projects.
• Commercial or Industrial Mechanical experience required, including HVAC, plumbing, piping, process piping, sheet metal, or related systems.
• Strong working knowledge of commercial or industrial project management, scheduling, budgeting, procurement, subcontract administration, and cost control.
• Ability to read and understand construction drawings, specifications, contracts, and project documentation.
• Strong financial, organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and make sound decisions in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn and use construction project management systems.
• Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field preferred. Equivalent field, trade, construction, and leadership experience will be considered.
