Job summary

ABB Inc. in Houston, Texas is looking for a Project Leader to manage medium to large scale projects in the Automation industry. With a strong focus on the Oil and Gas, Chemical, Power and Water sectors, the successful candidate will lead a diverse technical team, ensure projects are delivered on time and within budget, and contribute to process improvements. A degree in engineering and over 12 years of experience in relevant sectors are required. The work model is primarily on-site but includes some hybrid flexibility.

ABB's Process Automation business area enables customers to operate some of the world's largest and most complex industrial infrastructures, offering automation, electrification and digital solutions for process, hybrid and maritime industries.

Your role

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead the execution of medium-size to large projects. You will ensure that all related activities are performed in accordance with procedures, regulations, standards, specifications, and targets, and contribute to team development and process improvement to increase project execution effectiveness. The work model for the role is on-site and some hybrid. This role contributes to the IAEN in the US with main stakeholders in US Sales and Operations.

Responsibilities

• Leading the project team, establishing the project execution approach, and overseeing project hand-over, execution planning, monitoring and control activities for internal and external resources to accomplish project goals.
• Providing leadership and active involvement in continuous improvement and simplification.
• Supporting local Sales and Tendering through early involvement in tenders.
• Driving the formal acceptance of the project, contract close-out, and acknowledgment by the customer, in accordance with the contract.

Qualifications

• Experience with highly technical projects in the Oil and Gas, Chemical, Power and Water industries.
• 12+ years of experience in the Automation industry managing complex projects.
• Ability to lead a diverse group of technical leads, including remote resources.
• Demonstrated track record delivering projects on time and on budget.
• Degree in Engineering (Electrical, Automation, or related field).
• Ability to communicate effectively with diverse cultures.
