Job summary

Bishop & Company, Inc. in Hawaii seeks an experienced Engineering and Capital Projects leader to drive planning, execution and oversight of capital improvements from concept to commissioning across multiple facilities.

You will apply Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement to boost throughput, quality and efficiency, while leading budgets, schedules, vendor and contractor management, and cross-functional collaboration with Operations, Quality and Supply Chain.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of engineering and project management in manufacturing.
  • Experience leading capital projects from concept to startup.
  • Lean manufacturing and continuous improvement experience.
  • PMP or PE credentials preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planning, execution and oversight of capital projects from concept through commissioning.
  • Optimize production processes, packaging ops, and facility systems using Lean principles to boost throughput and quality.
  • Maintain and upgrade facility infrastructure, utilities, and plant systems.
  • Support regulatory compliance, safety, and quality initiatives across operations.
  • Manage budgets, costs, and reporting; coordinate with Operations, Quality, and Finance across sites.

What You'll Do
  • Engineering & Capital Project Leadership
    Lead the planning, execution, and oversight of capital improvement projects from concept through commissioning. Manage the annual capital project portfolio, including project justification, budgeting, scheduling, contractor management, and performance tracking. Ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and aligned with business objectives. Partner with equipment manufacturers, engineering firms, and contractors to identify and implement innovative technologies and process improvements.
  • Manufacturing & Process Improvement
    Support the optimization of production processes, packaging operations, and facility systems to improve throughput, efficiency, and product quality. Apply Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement principles to eliminate waste, increase productivity, and reduce operating costs. Collaborate with operations leadership to identify opportunities for equipment, process, and workflow enhancements. Provide technical expertise and engineering support across multiple departments.
  • Facilities & Infrastructure
    Support the performance and reliability of facility infrastructure, including utilities and critical plant systems. Participate in equipment upgrades, facility expansions, and infrastructure improvement initiatives. Maintain engineering documentation, plant layouts, drawings, and change management records.
  • Compliance & Food Safety
    Support Partner with Quality, Safety, and Operations teams to support regulatory compliance and operational excellence. Ensure engineering projects meet applicable safety, environmental, and industry requirements. Support initiatives that promote safe operations, product quality, and continuous improvement.
  • Leadership & Financial Management
    Manage engineering and capital budgets, monitor project costs, and provide regular reporting on performance metrics. Build strong relationships across Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, Finance, and other functional teams. Serve as a key contributor to strategic planning and long-term operational improvements.
Qualifications
  • Required: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Five or more years of engineering and project management experience within a manufacturing, processing, industrial, or production environment.
  • Experience managing capital projects from initial concept through installation and startup.
  • Strong project management, budgeting, contractor management, and vendor management experience.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, continuous improvement methodologies, and manufacturing best practices.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel between company facilities as needed.
  • Preferred Experience within food manufacturing, consumer packaged goods (CPG), agricultural processing, or other regulated production environments.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or similar credentials.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Familiarity with quality systems, food safety requirements, and regulatory compliance programs.

Compensation is unique to each candidate and relative to the skills and experience they bring to the position. The salary range for this position is typically $135,000 - $160,000 annually. This does not guarantee a specific salary as compensation is based upon multiple factors such as education, experience, certifications, and other requirements, and may fall outside of the above-stated range.
