Job summary

Veolia North America seeks a Senior Project Manager to lead end-to-end delivery of large water/wastewater facilities. You will coordinate cross-functional teams, manage budgets, and ensure regulatory compliance.

Travel up to 30-40% to sites; work spans office and field environments. A PE license and PMP certification are preferred, with a BS in Civil/Environmental Engineering and 10+ years of experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering.
• 10+ years managing large water/wastewater design/construction projects.
• PMP and/or Construction Management certifications; PE license preferred.
• Proven leadership and cross-functional coordination.
• Strong understanding of regulatory frameworks for water/wastewater.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all phases of large water/wastewater projects from design through closeout.
• Drive delivery strategy and monitor KPIs and risk using alternate methods.
• Manage project budgets, perform risk assessments, ensure financial accountability.
• Coordinate with stakeholders across corporate and local units; report to leadership.
• Ensure designs meet Technical, Environmental, and Health & Safety standards.
• Coordinate permitting and regulatory processes with local staff.
• Provide monthly status reports on performance, risks, and milestones.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of engineering design and delivery.

Position Purpose

Responsible for the end-to-end delivery of complex, large-scale capital infrastructure projects. This role serves as a subject matter expert, managing critical projects that have significant impacts on Operational, Financial, and Regulatory objectives. The position coordinates cross-functional teams and works transversally across business units to ensure strategic alignment and project success.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities

• Project Lifecycle Management: Oversee all phases of large-scale water/wastewater projects, from conceptual design and funding approvals through execution and project closeout.
• Execution Strategy: Drive efficiency in project delivery by monitoring key performance metrics and utilizing alternate procurement and delivery methods.
• Financial Stewardship: Manage complex project budgets, perform ongoing risk/opportunity assessments, and ensure financial accountability.
• Stakeholder & Change Management: Work transversally with corporate and local business units; act as a bridge between technical teams and leadership to ensure asset owner satisfaction.
• Compliance & Standards: Ensure all project designs adhere to corporate Technical, Environmental, and Health & Safety/Security standards.
• Permitting & Regulatory: Coordinate with local staff to manage environmental and governmental permitting processes.
• Reporting: Provide monthly status reports to management regarding project performance, risks, and milestone achievements.
• Continuous Improvement: Participate in the development of engineering design and delivery processes, and provide technical expertise for facility condition assessments.

Work Environment

• Ability to travel approximately 30-40% to business units as required.
• Work is conducted in both office and field/facility environments.

Education/Experience/Background

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil, Mechanical, or Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum 10+ years of experience in managing large/complex water/wastewater design and construction projects (treatment plants, pumping stations, transmission/distribution).

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

• Thorough working knowledge of water/wastewater process applications and environmental regulatory frameworks.
• Project Management: Expert capability in initiating, planning, executing, monitoring, controlling, and closing complex projects.
• Leadership: Demonstrated "leadership by example" and ability to influence cross-functional teams.
• Analytical Skills: Strong financial analysis skills, including budget management and basic accounting.
• Systems Proficiency: Proficiency in MS Project, MS Office, and experience with performance monitoring tools (e.g., Oracle).
• Communication: Superior presentation and reporting skills; ability to communicate complex information to diverse stakeholder groups.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training

• PMP and/or Construction Management certifications; Professional Engineer License (PE) is highly desired.

Pay Range

$115000 to $125000 per year.
