Job summary

E2 Consulting Engineers, LP is seeking a Project Manager to lead internal and external projects in support of the Client's Small Modular Reactor design, fabrication, and deployment. You will report to the Director, SMR Product Development and coordinate with multiple departments to ensure delivery within cost, schedule, and quality targets.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or related discipline required.
  • Minimum 10 years in project management with high complexity and multiple interfaces.
  • PMI principles (PMBOK) knowledge required; PMP preferred.
  • Eligible to work under DOE 10 CFR Part 810; nuclear industry experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and execute project activities per Client policies and procedures.
  • Maintain baseline, EVMS planning, and execution strategy; communicate requirements to team.
  • Interface with discipline managers and teams to support project goals.
  • Identify and resolve problems; manage risk and issues with escalation when needed.
  • Provide weekly/monthly status reports on performance, schedule, and cost risks.
  • Coordinate resources and authorize work packages; assign qualified personnel.
  • Develop and maintain project-specific plans and procedures for efficient execution.
  • Maintain high quality and timely task completion; perform other duties as assigned.

Overview

Reporting to the Director, SMR Product Development, this role will manage internal and/or external projects. The Project Manager leads a diverse team with various departments to advance the Client's Small Modular Reactor design, fabrication and deployment. This position focuses on development scope for Product Realization. Work will be performed collaboratively with other departments to ensure delivery of project to meet customer requirements and deliver customer value while achieving cost, schedule, quality and other specified targets and objectives. Expected complexity of projects include: non-recurring projects that involve significant FOAK activities, multiyear horizon for scope, autonomous work, intensive interface with high or unknown risk significance, large commercial value.

Preferred work location would be in either our Houston or Corvallis offices, but may be available for remote work within the contiguous United States, with travel up to 50% of the time.

Responsibilities
  • Manage the overall planning and execution of project activities for assigned projects in accordance with Client policies and procedures.
  • Document and maintain the approved baseline, earned value planning and management, and project execution strategy in a Project Management Plan. Communicate the project baseline and requirements to the project team.
  • Interface with and support various discipline managers and teams. Supporting performing organizations with advanced project knowledge and company priority information.
  • Proactively identify and achieve resolution of project problems and anticipated challenges, including escalation of issues within the Client organization when necessary, via effective risk and issue management.
  • Provides weekly and monthly status reports focused on project performance (earned value metrics, variance analysis, etc.), schedule and cost risk mitigations, and issue resolution to project stakeholders.
  • Coordinate with performing organization management personnel to authorize work and assign work package managers and qualified resources for project execution.
  • Develop, maintain and control project-specific plans and procedures needed for the efficient execution of the project.
  • Maintain the group’s standard of high quality and timely completion of tasks.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

    • Quality Assurance: Commits to the understanding or ability to understand the quality assurance regulations, standards and guidelines of 10 CFR 50 Appendix B, 10 CFR 21, and ASME NQA-1.
Qualifications
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in project management or related field dealing with a high degree of complexity and multiple interfaces. Must have a strong understanding of the nuclear development environment related to NSSS and reactor design as regulated by the US Nuclear Regulator Committee. Additional required and/or preferred experience is as follows:
    • Demonstrated application of Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Body of Knowledge principles and processes. (required)
    • Demonstrated application of integrated cost and schedule control, or ANSI EIA-748-C Earned Value Management System practices. (required)
    • Project Management experience in the nuclear industry, energy industry, power plant architect/engineering (A/E), or power plant engineering procurement construction (EPC). (required)
    • Experienced leader for a licensed nuclear design project, with knowledge of Pressurized Water Reactor designs. (required)
    • Project Management Institute (PMI) Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or equivalent certification program completion. (preferred)
    • Industry Requirements: Eligible to work under Department of Energy 10 CFR Part 810.
