Job summary

NuScale is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead cross-functional teams on Small Modular Reactor programs from Houston or Corvallis, with remote options within the contiguous United States. The role prioritizes cost, schedule, and quality targets for complex FOAK projects in a nuclear context.

You will manage scope for product realization, interfaces with multiple disciplines, and deliver customer value while maintaining strict safety and regulatory standards. Travel up to 50% is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or related discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in project management with a high degree of complexity and multiple interfaces.
  • Strong understanding of the nuclear development environment related to NSSS and reactor design per USNRC rules.
  • PMI PMI Project Management Body of Knowledge principles and processes (required).
  • Integrated cost and schedule control or ANSI EIA-748-C Earned Value Management System practices (required).
  • Experience in nuclear industry, energy industry, or EPC/A/E contexts (required).
  • Licensed nuclear design project leadership experience (required).
  • PMP certification or equivalent (preferred).

Responsibilities

Work will be performed collaboratively with other departments to ensure delivery of project to meet customer requirements and deliver customer value while achieving cost, schedule, quality and other specified targets and objectives. Expected complexity of projects include: non-recurring projects that involve significant FOAK activities, multiyear horizon for scope, autonomous work, intensive interface with high or unknown risk significance, large commercial value.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Manage the overall planning and execution of project activities for assigned projects in accordance with NuScale policies and procedures.Document and maintain the approved baseline, earned value planning and management, and project execution strategy in a Project Management Plan. Communicate the project baseline and requirements to the project team.Interface with and support various discipline managers and teams. Supporting performing organizations with advanced project knowledge and company priority information.Proactively identify and achieve resolution of project problems and anticipated challenges, including escalation of issues within the NuScale organization when necessary, via effective risk and issue management.Provides weekly and monthly status reports focused on project performance (earned value metrics, variance analysis, etc.), schedule and cost risk mitigations, and issue resolution to project stakeholders.Coordinate with performing organization management personnel to authorize work and assign work package managers and qualified resources for project execution.Develop, maintain and control project-specific plans and procedures needed for the efficient execution of the project.Maintain the group’s standard of high quality and timely completion of tasks.Perform other duties as assigned.CORE COMPETENCIES: To perform the job successfully, the individual should demonstrate competencies in performing the essential functions of this position by performing satisfactorily in each of these competencies.Problem solving: Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner, gathers and reviews information appropriately.
