Job Summary:

This position manages commercial, industrial, and institutional project design teams, coordinating technical tasks such as site layout, utility and roadway design, site grading, stormwater management, water and sewer main design, erosion control, floodplain studies, permitting, cost estimation, proposals, and invoicing.

Accountabilities and Duties:
  1. Review engineering plans and specifications for conformance to standards; prepare design standards and mentor QA/QC staff.
  2. Mentor and train staff and key associates.
  3. Coordinate production of construction drawings and specifications.
  4. Prepare and review cost estimates.
  5. Coordinate permits and approvals with municipal agencies.
  6. Review design calculations and prepare proposals.
  7. Follow proposal protocols and ensure timely submission of timesheets.
  8. Delegate project components to team members and collaborate on multi-discipline projects.
  9. Manage project schedules and ensure timely completion.
  10. Maintain good client relationships.
  11. Participate in business development and represent the firm at meetings.
  12. Monitor project budgets, billing, and accounts receivable.
  13. Inform supervisors of workload and scope changes.
  14. Accurately document time spent on projects weekly.
  15. Mentor and assist in staff development and evaluation.
Qualifications:

Licensed professional engineer with at least ten years of relevant design experience in land development projects.

Education and Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited institution.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Strong sense of urgency and initiative.
  • Ability to work independently and in teams.
  • Organizational skills for managing multiple projects.
  • Competence in designing/moderately complex engineering projects.
  • Decision-making within a general framework.
  • Availability for occasional nights and weekends.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and fluency in English.
Physical Demands:

Must meet physical requirements, with accommodations available as needed. Tasks include sitting, talking, hearing, standing, walking, handling objects, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, and lifting weights up to 25 pounds. Vision requirements include close, distance, color, and depth perception. Occasionally work outdoors in weather conditions.
