Job summary

CoVolt Power in Chattanooga, TN is seeking a Senior Project Manager to lead the full lifecycle of large utility-scale EPC projects. This role operates with high independence, ensuring safe, on-time, and financially disciplined delivery while developing future project leaders.

You will mentor project teams, manage budgets and contracts, and partner with owners, lenders, and key stakeholders to maintain milestone alignment and deliver performance.

Qualifications

  • 8–10 years of project management experience.
  • 3+ years leading large-scale EPC projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, renewable energy, or related field.
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • OSHA 10/30 and First Aid/CPR preferred.

Works closely with: Owners, Project Directors, Project Engineers, Field Construction Staff, Preconstruction, Procurement, Scheduling, Quality, and Safety


Role Overview:


The Senior Project Manager (SPM) is responsible for leading the full lifecycle execution of CoVolt Power’s most complex and strategically significant utility-scale solar EPC projects. The Sr PM operates with a high level of independence and judgment, ensuring safe, timely, and financially disciplined delivery. In addition to core project leadership responsibilities, Sr. PM plays a pivotal role in developing future project leaders, elevating project management standards, and reinforcing the culture and operating rhythms of Project Delivery. This role requires an experienced, forward-thinking project leader who can navigate significant technical, commercial, and contractual challenges, strengthen relationships with clients and partners, and model the behaviors expected across Signal’s project teams.


Key Responsibilities:



  • Advanced Project Leadership & Execution

  • Lead full-lifecycle execution of large, complex EPC projects from NTP through final acceptance.

  • Oversee multiple project phases concurrently, ensuring alignment with design standards, construction best practices, schedule commitments, and commercial requirements.

  • Provide strategic decision-making support to field teams and proactively resolve issuesto maintain project momentum.

  • Support Preconstruction through estimating, constructability reviews, procurement strategy, and subcontractor evaluation for major scopes.

  • Safety & Quality Leadership:

  • Model exceptional safety behavior and ensure field teams uphold Signal’s safety expectations without exception.

  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives and promote a transparent, corrective-action culture around safety and quality.

  • Partner with Quality to ensure robust inspection processes, proactive issue resolution, and adherence to specifications.

  • Manage project budgets at an advanced level, including forecasting, cost trending, margin protection, and commercial strategy.

  • Oversee contract administration and major commercial events, including claims, notices, risk exposures, and change management.

  • Provide executive-level reporting on financial performance, risks, and variance drivers.

  • Lead strategic scheduling efforts, including development, monitoring, and mitigation planning for complex, multi-phase scopes.

  • Ensure rigorous analysis of critical path, productivity trends, and recovery planning.

  • Collaborate with Scheduling, Construction, and subcontract partners to maintain milestone alignment.

  • Client & Stakeholder Leadership:

  • Serve as the primary strategic interface with clients, owner engineers, lenders, and key stakeholders.

  • Anticipate client needs, maintain alignment on expectations, and elevate Signal’s reputation for professionalism and performance.

  • Lead difficult conversations with poise and ensure transparent communication during challenges or change events.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop Project Managers, APMs, PEs, and Field Engineers to build a strong succession pipeline.

  • Reinforce Signal’s project delivery culture—accountability, proactive communication, disciplined execution, and team cohesion.

  • Provide structured coaching, regular performance feedback, and development planning for project delivery personnel.

  • Support hiring, onboarding, and capability-building initiatives across the PM discipline.

  • Strategic Risk Management:

  • Identify, quantify, and strategically manage high-impact risks across technical,commercial, schedule, subcontract, and safety domains.

  • Lead major risk reviews with senior leadership and ensure clear mitigation strategies and follow-through.

  • Integrate lessons learned into future planning and mentor PMs on effective risk leadership.

  • Reporting, Governance & Executive Communication:

  • Provide consistent, accurate, and executive-ready reporting on project progress, issues,financials, and milestone health.

  • Lead internal and external project meetings with clarity, structure, and a focus on accountability.

  • Support Project Delivery governance processes and continuous-improvement initiatives.


Primary Skills/Experience/Abilities:



  • Demonstrated leadership of large-scale EPC construction projects, preferably utility-scale sola or renewable energy.

  • Advanced knowledge of EPC execution, engineering workflows, procurement strategy, and

  • Mastery of financial reporting, cost controls, and commercial management.

  • Exceptional communication – verbal, written, and interpersonal – with strong client-facing

  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and mentor developing project talent.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a high degree of ownership and initiative.

  • Proficiency in project management software (P6, MS Project) and financial systems.


Preferred Education/Experience:



  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, renewable energy, or related field.

  • Minimum 8-10 years of project management experience, with at least 3 years in a role leading complex or large-scale EPC projects.


Preferred Certificates/Licenses:



  • Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.

  • OSHA 10 or 30-hour safety certification.

  • First Aid/CPR Certification.
