About the opportunity

SWCA Environmental Consultants is seeking an experienced and strategic-minded Senior Project Management Technical Director to lead and grow the SWCA Project Management (PM) Ecosystem. This includes developing the technical skills of our 550+ PMs and project controls specialists, who are essential for the successful execution of projects on time and within budget.

The role involves leading the Project Management Ecosystem (PME), collaborating with senior leadership, and implementing company-wide standards and practices. The candidate will supervise regional project controls managers, develop training programs, oversee large projects, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.

This full-time position can be based in any SWCA office or fully remote within the U.S. The application deadline is June 9th, 2025, and a letter of interest and resume are required.

What you will accomplish

1. Develop and implement PM standards, best practices, and tools to ensure innovation and efficiency.
2. Collaborate with leadership to drive strategic initiatives and standardization across regions.
3. Stay current with industry best practices and lead the functional structure of the Project Controls team.
4. Lead training and development programs for PMs, including certifications and career paths.
5. Support project execution by providing resources, tracking KPIs, and engaging with clients.
6. Assist in strategic hiring and staffing of project management personnel.
7. Participate in the development of tools and resources, including technology integrations and change management.
8. Demonstrate key competencies: effective communication, managing complexity, and building trust.

Qualifications

Minimum:

• Bachelor's degree
• 10 years in project management or controls
• 5 years in leadership within a consulting or professional services firm
• Experience in developing project management standards
• Strong communication skills
• Ability to travel 1-2 times per quarter

Preferred: background in environmental consulting, scientific or technical fields.
