Job summary

Jobtailor seeks a Lead Electronic Component Design professional to lead connectivity hardware projects, including cellular, satellite, Wi‑Fi, Bluetooth and UWB, and to drive hardware requirements generation.

You will manage supplier engagements, ensure alignment between system and hardware requirements, and coordinate with Cat Technology teams while guiding cross-functional teams across automotive, construction, and mining sectors.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Computer, or equivalent.
  • Experience with electronic component products and integration.
  • Experience with Component Product Development for automotive, construction or mining industries.
  • Experience with supplier management.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, audits, controls, defect containment and risk assessment.
  • Knowledge of connectivity/telematics product lines.
  • Knowledge of IoT standards, regulations, and regional requirements.
  • Analytical skills and ability to perform complex assignments.
  • Ability to communicate technical information with teams, customers and suppliers.
  • Must work full-time in Mossville, IL or Irving, TX.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design projects for connectivity solutions, including cellular, satellite, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and UWB.
  • Generate hardware requirements from customer, dealer, business, and regulatory input.
  • Lead the design and development of connectivity hardware products.
  • Lead supplier engagement and manage and negotiate with electrical equipment vendors.
  • Ensure consistency between system and hardware requirements.
  • Define hardware requirements and technology roadmaps.
  • Drive engineering execution and coordinate stakeholder communication.
  • Collaborate with Cat Technology teams on enterprise architecture and new tech.
  • Facilitate development and support of connectivity products with cats teams and purchasing.
  • Communicate program/project status to stakeholders and customers.
  • Direct project staffing and motivate and develop project teams.
  • Oversee compliance with development processes and regulations for electrical and electronic systems and components.

Requirements
  • Engineering degree in Engineering, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or equivalent experience
  • Experience with electronic component products, component integration and product quality management
  • Experience with Component Product Development for automotive, construction or mining Industry
  • Experience with Supplier management
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes, audits and controls, defect containment and risk assessment and mitigation through leading indicators
  • Knowledge and experience with connectivity/telematics product line
  • Knowledge and awareness of IoT Standards, regulations, and regional requirements
  • Demonstrated analytical skills and ability to perform complex assignments
  • Ability to communicate technical information effectively with team members, employees in other business units, customers, and suppliers
  • Electronic component, information systems, and machine systems development experience and knowledge
  • Must work full-time in either Mossville, IL or Irving, TX
  • Visa sponsorship is NOT available
  • Successful completion of a drug screen required
