Job summary

Zachry Group seeks a Project Environmental Manager to ensure environmental compliance for a major EPC construction project. You will lead site environmental professionals, work with clients, regulators, and management to integrate environmental considerations across all construction phases.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science or related field, at least 5 years in construction environmental compliance with supervisory experience, and strong regulatory knowledge.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Engineering or in a related technical discipline.
• Minimum of 5 years managing environmental compliance in the construction industry; with at least 2 years in a direct supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of environmental regulations, permitting processes, and compliance requirements at federal, state, and local levels.
• Proven experience managing environmental projects, leading teams, and working directly with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare and present technical reports and regulatory documentation.
• Not required but strongly preferred: Experience managing environmental compliance under the North Carolina Construction Stormwater Program (NCG01 Permit).

Responsibilities

• Ensure risk management, planning, and implementation of project environmental requirements through stakeholder engagement.
• Develop the day-to-day execution plan and delegate tasks for site environmental team.
• Oversee preparation of environmental plans, permit applications, reports, and client documents.
• Oversee environmental inspections and compliance documentation.
• Read and apply complex project environmental permits and regulations.
• Monitor performance of environmental controls.
• Coordinate with Field Operations to ensure compliance and awareness of requirements.
