Job summary

Tetra Tech in Southwest Florida seeks a Senior Project Engineer to lead design and coordination for water and wastewater infrastructure projects. You will mentor staff, collaborate with clients and PMs, and deliver high-quality engineering solutions across pipelines, treatment facilities, and pump/collection systems.

The role emphasizes technical leadership, site investigations, design calculations, and compliance with standards, with opportunities for growth and client interaction.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or Water Resources Engineering.
• 12+ years of progressive experience in municipal infrastructure or water/wastewater engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) in Civil or Environmental Engineering, registered in Florida (or ability to obtain Florida licensure within 6 months).
• Proven ability to manage technical aspects of complex projects and mentor staff.
• Strong communication, technical writing, and organizational skills.
• Familiarity with municipal permitting and regulatory requirements.
• Experience with hydraulic modeling software; proficiency with AutoCAD Civil 3D and Revit is desirable.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project).
• Ability to travel periodically (approximately 15% or more).

Responsibilities

• Lead and perform engineering design for water infrastructure and water resource facilities.
• Oversee site investigations and inspections, delivering detailed technical assessments.
• Develop design calculations, technical reports, drawings, and specifications.
• Evaluate design alternatives, resolve technical challenges, and coordinate across engineering disciplines.
• Serve as a key contact with clients, subconsultants, contractors, and regulatory agencies.
• Guide projects through conceptual planning, permitting, and final design, including plans, specifications, and bid packages.
• Provide technical expertise for municipal infrastructure projects, including treatment facilities, pipelines, and pump/collection systems.
• Deliver construction-phase support: bid evaluations, RFI responses, shop drawing reviews, progress reports, and change order evaluations.
• Make independent assessments of engineering challenges, recommending practical solutions and ensuring compliance with standards.
• Mentor junior technical staff and contribute to the growth.
