About the Transportation Business Unit

What You'll Do :

In this role, you’ll have the opportunity to design complex interstate geometrics and local road projects. Depending on your experience, you may also lead a design team, with both immediate and long-term growth potential. Key responsibilities include :

• Roadway Design : Take charge of the design and plan preparation for both highway and local road projects.
• Quality Assurance : Lead internal quality reviews to ensure that plans meet the highest technical standards.
• Mentorship : Provide guidance and feedback to junior engineers, helping them grow professionally.
• Proposal Development : Assist in preparing and negotiating project fee proposals.
• Project Scheduling and Budgeting : Prepare design schedules, construction cost estimates, and deliver staged project submittals on time and within budget.
• Client Interaction : Build and maintain strong client relationships through presentations and regular communication.
• Scope and Change Management : Recognize scope changes and assist with contract negotiations when necessary.
• Team Collaboration : Work closely with a talented team of engineers, technicians, and administrative staff to successfully execute transportation projects.

What You'll Bring :

We are looking for an experienced engineer who thrives in a collaborative environment and has the technical and leadership skills to drive success. The ideal candidate will have :

• Roadway Design Experience : Proficiency in the design and preparation of plans for both interstate and local roads (ODOT design experience preferred).
• Licensing : A Professional Engineer (PE) license in Ohio is preferred, or the ability to obtain one within 6 months.
• Regulatory Knowledge : Familiarity with AASHTO, FHWA, and ODOT standards.
• Software Skills : Experience with MicroStation, OpenRoads Designer, and AutoCAD.
• Project Management : Prior experience managing projects, including developing proposals and overseeing project timelines and budgets.
• Mentorship & Leadership : A background in mentoring or managing teams, with the ability to collaborate effectively and independently.
• Strong Communication Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills to interact with clients and team members alike.

• BS in Engineering from an ABET-accredited College or University
