The City of Bend is seeking to fill two engineer positions: Senior Engineer and Project Engineer within its Engineering and Transportation Departments. These roles involve managing significant projects focused on improving city infrastructure and transportation. Ideal candidates will possess a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering and relevant experience in project management and collaboration across departments.
June 4, 2025 (6/4/2025) update: The Transportation & Mobility Department is no longer recruiting for this position. The Engineering Department is continuing to recruit for a Senior Engineer, Project Engineer, or Engineering Associate.
The City of Bend Engineering and Transportation & Mobility Departments are currently seeking applicants for two (2) Engineer positions at various levels within the job family. These opportunities are FLSA exempt (overtime ineligible), non-represented positions, filled at either the Senior Engineer, Project Engineer, or Engineering Associate level, depending on candidate experience. The preference is to fill the positions at the Senior Engineer or Project Engineer level.
This recruitment will also be used to determine an eligibility list for upcoming vacancies at various levels for up to 6 months. The eligibility list may be canceled at any time at the discretion of the City.

This role manages mid to large capital projects, especially transportation projects funded by a Transportation GO Bond. Responsibilities include overseeing projects from concept through construction, engaging with the public, other agencies, and departments.
The ideal candidate is an innovative, experienced, self-motivated senior-level engineer responsible for delivering projects in the Transportation and Accessibility CIPs, which may include Water, Stormwater, Sewer, or General Obligation Transportation Bond components.
The candidate should have proven experience in full project lifecycle management, including planning, design, management, mentorship, procurement, fiscal accountability, and construction oversight.

This role involves working on smaller projects and mobility programs aimed at safety, congestion reduction, and diverse travel options. Responsibilities include collaboration with developers, engineers, the public, and other City departments. The position requires a strong background in multi-modal transportation and may involve in-house design for quick-build projects.
