Job summary

NiSource Inc. is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to manage engineering and detailed design phases for designated generation projects. You will oversee scope, schedule, and cost while coordinating internal teams, external engineering firms, and stakeholders to ensure product quality and project success.

The role requires PMI/PMBOK-aligned project management and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a utility environment, with flexibility for overtime to meet project goals.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited bachelor’s degree in engineering or engineering technology.
• 10+ years of engineering experience in a utility-based environment.
• Proficient in MS Office applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint).
• Ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to plan safety into work scope.
• Willingness to travel to project sites.
• Knowledge of project management principles (PMI/PMBOK).
• Experience leading engineering teams and coordinating external firms.
• Ability to obtain and maintain security/work authorization as required.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage project engineering and detailed design phases.
• Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders, including AE/SME teams.
• Oversee schedule, cost, and scope to ensure project objectives.
• Ensure product quality and risk management in design packages.
• Provide engineering solutions aligned with financial goals.
• Mentor and train other project engineers as needed.
