Job summary

Burns & McDonnell, Chicago, IL, is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead engineering design for natural gas facilities on Design-only and Design-Build/EPC projects. You will guide multi-discipline teams, coordinate procurement, vendor bids, and field services, and ensure schedules and budgets are met. A PE is preferred; ABET degree and 7 years of relevant experience are required. Travel up to 25%.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited university and minimum 7 years of direct project engineering experience managing design efforts for Design-only and EPC projects for natural gas facilities.
• Expert knowledge in a degreed engineering discipline with basic knowledge in other engineering disciplines.
• Strong facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization, and problem-solving skills.
• Highly effective communicator with clear and concise writing and presentation skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage overall engineering design efforts for natural gas measurement, regulation, upgrading, and compression facilities.
• Prepare and manage final engineering budgets and oversee Quality Program implementation for designs.
• Coordinate and manage inter-discipline reviews and progress with project controls teams.
• Lead field engineering services, subcontract plans, and vendor bid reviews.
• Support procurement, prepare equipment specifications, and review vendor bids and proposals.
• Assist Project Managers with client change orders and turnover/start-up plans.

Description

The Senior Project Engineer will manage overall engineering design efforts for Design-only and/or Design-Build/EPC projects for natural gas infrastructure. Design-only projects will encompass engineering design work for traditional design-bid-build projects. Design-Build/EPC projects will encompass all design, procurement, and construction management activities.

• Manage overall engineering design efforts for natural gas measurement, regulation, upgrading, and compression facilities.
• Prepare and manage final engineering budgets.
• Manage implementation of Quality Program for engineering designs.
• Manage independent quality/completeness reviews of engineering deliverables.
• Direct and manage field engineering services.
• Manage engineering design schedule, budget, and progress measurement functions with project controls teams.
• Coordinate and manage seams across multiple engineering disciplines including mechanical, process, electrical, structural, and corrosion.
• Support procurement, prepare equipment specifications and bid documentation, coordinate with vendors, and review vendor bids and proposals.
• Support Project Managers to prepare client change orders.
• Lead engineering preparation of subcontract plan and subcontractor bid and award packages.
• Manage turnover and start-up plans.
• Manage and expedite vendor and fabrication shop progress.
• Manage preparation of and/or prepare monthly client status reports.
• Manage meetings and review meeting status.
• Ensure compliance with company and site safety policies.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Comply with all policies and standards.

Qualifications

• High level of attention to detail.
• Proficient computer skills (e.g., Microsoft Office Suite).
• Ability to develop and manage work plans, schedules, and budgets.

Provide leadership to diverse project teams will be preferred.

Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.

Compensation

$125,000.00-235,000.00 Yearly

The expected compensation range for this position is displayed in compliance with all local/state regulations. The expected compensation range for this position is based on a number of factors, including but not limited to: individual education, qualifications, prior work experience and work location. The total annual compensation package will consist of a base salary and eligibility to participate in our discretionary year-end incentive bonus program.
