Job summary

rand* construction is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to lead project coordination, train and manage Project Engineers, and partner with PMs and stakeholders to overcome challenges. The SPE will advance through the PE role and help ensure successful project delivery.

The position emphasizes on-site coordination, schedule development, cost tracking, and effective communication with clients and owners. Houston-based opportunity with growing responsibilities.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering, Architecture, or Construction Management.
• Understanding of project management and project sequencing.
• Familiarity with field trades duties and responsibilities.
• Ability to negotiate with subcontractors.
• Effective time management skills.
• Excellent analytical and quantitative skills.
• Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with clients, owners, managers, consultants, architects, and fellow employees.
• Knowledge and familiarity with contracts.
• Basic understanding of finance principles including job cost, revenue, budgets and cash flow.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage certain aspects of a project, as determined by PM or SPM.
• Coordinate on-site with superintendent and manage trades and work in place.
• Facilitate trade coordination on site.
• Develop basic project/breakout schedules.
• Train and manage PEs on tasks like meeting minutes, RFI review, and workflow processes.
• Evaluate and manage RFI and submittal distribution.
• Assemble prime contract exhibits.
• Identify cost and schedule impacts through material tracking.
