Job summary

Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD) seeks an experienced Project Engineer to lead construction projects within District 03, Iberia Parish. The role supervises engineers and technicians, reviews documentation, and coordinates with contractors and officials to keep projects on track.

Professional licensure is required, with substitutions for degrees outlined in policy. SER compensation is provided at district level, with opportunities for advancement and career growth

Qualifications

• Current Louisiana Professional Engineer licensure required.
• Three years licensed engineering experience; or seven years of professional engineering experience.
• Master's degree substitutes for one year; Doctorate substitutes for two years.
• Advanced degrees substitute for a maximum of two years; no substitution for licensed experience.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and coordinates construction inspection, contract administration, sampling, testing, surveying, and documentation for assigned projects.
• Supervises and trains engineers and engineering technicians on construction projects, including day, night, or emergency operations.
• Reviews and approves construction documentation, quantities, diaries, test reports, estimates, correspondence, and other project records.
• Coordinates with contractors, consultants, utility companies, public officials, and internal DOTD staff to resolve project issues and maintain progress.
• Reviews project schedules, plan changes, construction problems, erosion control plans, utility relocations, change orders, and contract compliance issues.
