Job summary

The Recruiting Hive is seeking a Senior Project Engineer for a premier heavy civil / FDOT project in Lakeland, FL. You will lead RFI/submittal workflows, CPM scheduling, and coordination between designers, the owner, and subcontractors.

You will own cost tracking, pay applications, and change orders while ensuring FDOT compliance and constructability. A clear path to Project Manager awaits the right candidate.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of project engineering on heavy-civil / heavy-highway projects.
• Hands-on FDOT roadway project experience.
• Strong command of RFIs, submittals, scheduling, and field coordination.
• A degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field — or equivalent field experience.
• Proficiency with PM software (Primavera P6, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project).

Responsibilities

• Manage RFIs and submittals end to end to keep the project on schedule.
• Develop, update, and analyze CPM schedules; identify critical-path risks.
• Coordinate with Superintendent and crews on sequencing, material deliveries, and subcontractor work.
• Own quantity tracking, pay estimates, and monthly owner pay applications.
• Review plans for constructability and FDOT compliance; manage change orders and cost proposals.
• Maintain daily reports and as‑builts to FDOT standards and mentor junior engineers.
