Job summary

The Recruiting Hive in Naples, FL is seeking a Project Engineer for a heavy-civil/FDOT roadway project. This direct-hire, full-time role offers mentorship, growth toward Senior PE, and a strong project backlog in a desirable Florida market.

You will manage RFIs, submittals, and field coordination, supporting the Superintendent with material tracking and scheduling, while reviewing plans for constructability and FDOT compliance. A civil engineering background plus DOT experience is required.

Qualifications

• 2+ years in project or field engineering in heavy-civil / highway construction.
• Experience with FDOT roadway projects or DOT roadway environments preferred.
• Ability to read and interpret civil plans and specs.
• Knowledge of RFIs, submittals, and field coordination is required.

Responsibilities

• Manage RFIs and submittals, coordinating between designers, owner, and subcontractors.
• Assist the Superintendent in field tasks: material tracking, subcontractor scheduling, daily sequencing.
• Help track quantities, pay estimates, and project costs.
• Review plans and specs to catch conflicts and constructability issues early.
• Keep documentation and records aligned to FDOT standards.
• Support scheduling, look-ahead planning, and change-order documentation.
