Advantage Technical seeks a Senior Project Engineer to support a high-visibility FCC Reliability Improvement Project for a major refinery client. The Houston-based role progresses from detailed engineering to site execution at the refinery, coordinating multiple disciplines and interfaces with EPC/EPCM partners.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an accredited institution.
• Significant project engineering experience in refining, petrochemical, or related process industries, including multidiscipline capital project execution.
• Experience interfacing with engineering contractors, EPC/EPCM firms, construction teams, and site stakeholders.
• Strong understanding of project execution processes from FEL through detailed design, construction, commissioning, startup, and handover.
• Strong technical, communication, leadership, and coordination skills in a multidiscipline environment.

Job description

Our client is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support a $140MM FCC Reliability Improvement Project with a major refinery client. This is a high-visibility capital project with significant involvement from engineering through startup.

The project involves FCC converter replacement and unit modernization, progressing from detailed engineering and procurement through construction, the March 2028 turnaround, commissioning, startup, and handover.

• Houston-based during detailed engineering, then transition to the Refinery for site execution
• Lead technical coordination with the engineering contractor and multidisciplinary project team
• Ideal background: FCC unit modernization, major refinery capital projects, or turnaround execution
• Experience across both engineering-office and refinery/site phases strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of refinery engineering standards, project specifications, and project execution

Required Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• Experience as a lead engineer with an engineering contractor or in an owner’s project team role on major capital projects.
• Experience with refining unit revamps, brownfield execution, tie-ins, turnaround coordination, and startup support.
