Job summary

Contract Professionals, Inc. seeks a Senior Project Engineer to lead defense-focused R&D programs involving energetic materials, prototype development, and testing through technology transfer.

The role requires hands-on leadership, strong analytical skills, and experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, and complex experiments. Local candidates in Round Rock, TX are preferred; minimal Texas travel is expected.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering required; Master's preferred.
• 8-10+ years of engineering experience in high-level R&D or product development.
• Defense industry, defense contractor, military, or government lab background required.
• Experience with energetic materials including explosives, propellants, or pyrotechnics.
• Demonstrated technical project/program leadership experience.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with instrumentation, data acquisition, and complex testing/experiments.
• Familiarity with machining, fabrication, and prototype development.
• Ability to obtain an ATFE possessor license and security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead research and development projects through prototype development, testing, and technology transition.
• Manage schedules, budgets, and technical execution for programs.
• Provide hands-on technical project leadership and risk management.
• Collaborate with engineering leadership and other stakeholders.
• Grow within the organization and assume increasing responsibility.
