Job summary

State of Louisiana DOTD in Natchitoches Parish seeks an experienced Project Engineer to lead complex construction projects, supervise engineers and technicians, and ensure compliance with DOTD standards and specifications. This role supports delivery, maintenance, or improvement of transportation infrastructure through technical analysis and coordination with contractors.

The position requires a current Louisiana Professional Engineer license, with three or seven years of licensed/professional

Qualifications

• Professional license to practice engineering is required.
• Three years of licensed engineering experience; or Seven years of professional engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Plans, directs, and coordinates construction inspection, contract administration, sampling, testing, surveying, and documentation activities for assigned construction projects.
• Supervises and trains engineers and engineering technicians assigned to construction projects.
• Reviews and approves construction documentation, quantities, daily diaries, test reports, estimates, correspondence, and other project records.
• Coordinates with contractors, consultants, utility companies, public officials, and internal DOTD staff to resolve project issues and maintain progress.
• Reviews project schedules, plan changes, construction problems, erosion control plans, utility relocations, change orders, and contract compliance issues.
• Ensures construction work is performed in accordance with plans, specifications, special provisions, DOTD policies, and applicable federal and state requirements.
• Manage unit resources including office and vehicle use, conduct drainage surveys for permit support, and provide personnel for emergency/disaster activities.
