Job summary

Woolpert, Inc. in Texas is seeking a Senior Project Engineer to support our South Region team. The role focuses on the design and management of transportation infrastructure projects, primarily for TxDOT, delivering schematic designs, PS&E, structural plans, and precise cost estimates.

The ideal candidate will lead a team, mentor engineers, coordinate with disciplines, and develop budgets and schedules to drive project success. This role is based in Texas and requires work authorization.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering with 6+ years of experience, or Master's with 5+ years.
• Texas PE license required.
• Experience leading bridge design projects and knowledge of TxDOT standards.

Responsibilities

• Lead and collaborate with a team to manage and execute bridge design tasks for TxDOT projects.
• Oversee structural designs, specifications, and cost estimations for bridges, walls, and related infra.
• Supervise load rating analysis, rehabilitation concepts, and structure type analyses.
• Mentor engineers to employ current design software to complete projects.
• Coordinate with other design teams and disciplines.
• Provide guidance to PE/EIT and CAD Drafters on projects.
• Develop design procedures for high‑quality, cost‑effective work.
• Participate in interdisciplinary reviews and develop construction estimates.
• Perform QA checks on design calculations and drawings, and develop budgets and schedules.

Overview

We are looking for a Senior Project Engineer to support our South Region team, a crucial role geared towards the design and management of transportation infrastructure projects, mainly for TxDOT. This individual will be integral in steering our team towards the delivery of exceptional schematic designs, PS&E, structural plans, and precise cost estimations.

Only candidates located in Texas will be considered. We are unable to provide visa sponsorship for this position. Applicants must already possess work authorization in the country the job is located.

What you will do

• Lead and collaborate with a team to manage and execute bridge design tasks for diverse transportation projects, focusing predominantly on TxDOT projects.
• Oversee the preparation of comprehensive structural designs, specifications, and cost estimations for a variety of structures, including bridges, retaining walls, and other related infrastructure.
• Supervise load rating analysis, rehabilitation concepts and structure type analysis evaluations.
• Mentor engineering team to use current engineering design software to complete designs.
• Coordinate with other design teams and disciplines.
• Offer technical guidance to Professional Engineer/EIT and CAD Designer / Drafters on project.
• Develop design procedures to facilitate high‑quality cost‑effective work by others.
• Participate in interdisciplinary review of project deliverables.
• Develop construction cost estimates and estimates of technical efforts for projects.
• Execute quality assurance checks on design calculations and drawings.
• Develop engineering budget and schedule to support project management.

What you will bring

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering and 6+ years of relevant experience OR Master's degree in Engineering and 5+ years of relevant experience
• Texas PE license is required.
• Knowledge of industry standard computer software such as PGSuper, WinCore, LEAP Bridge Concrete, MicroStation, spColumn, LPile, MDX, CSiBridge, STAAD PRO, AASHTOWare etc.
• A track record of successfully leading bridge design projects.
• Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.

Salary Range: USD $120,800.00 - USD $144,960.00 /Yr.
