This role involves producing and modifying design calculations, technical reports, engineering plans, and specifications for assigned projects. You will collaborate with the project manager on research, development, calculations, design, and delivery, applying engineering techniques and design criteria for complex projects. You will leverage your technical expertise to address design issues, work closely with the project manager, and develop conceptual and detailed designs using current tools and software. Mentoring junior staff and contributing to project delivery are also key responsibilities.
What You'll Do:
- Utilize senior-level technical expertise for a broad range of engineering solutions.
- Plan, assign work, and lead on complex engineering projects, ensuring schedule and budget adherence.
- Assist in marketing efforts, including proposal development.
- Define scope of work, effort levels, and manage scope and budget adherence.
- Ensure the completeness and accuracy of the technical work of the project team.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team members.
- Coordinate technical aspects with clients and partners.
- Lead discipline delivery on larger, multi-disciplinary projects, collaborating with other disciplines.
- Assist in scheduling and work distribution for multi-discipline projects.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
What You'll Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with 8 years of relevant experience, or
- Master’s degree with 7 years, or
- PhD with 6 years of relevant experience.
What You'll Bring:
- Strong technical knowledge across multiple disciplines.
- Ability to prioritize and deliver high-quality projects on time and within scope.
- Visionary thinking and risk anticipation.
- Understanding of how disciplines influence project development.
- Innovative approach to project efficiencies.
- Problem-solving skills with effective decision-making.
- Experience in structural analysis, design, and evaluations for bridges and tunnels in New England.
- Leadership in technical tasks and staff coordination for structural projects.
- Role as a structural advisor for large infrastructure projects in Massachusetts and Rhode Island.
What We Prefer:
- Master’s degree in Engineering.
- 10 years of relevant experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) license in MA and RI.
- Experience with bridge projects for MassDOT, MBTA, RIDOT, and Massport.
