Job summary

Lonza in Portsmouth, NH is seeking a Plant Engineer III to provide technical leadership for manufacturing and process systems on-site. You will lead capital projects, oversee vendors, own P&IDs, and drive QA-supported changes to meet production needs.

The role requires a BS in Engineering with 5–10 years in pharma/biotech facilities, plus experience with process controls and project management. Relocation assistance is available for eligible candidates.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Chemical, Mechanical or Biopharmaceutical) required.
• 5-10 years of substantial pharmaceutical/biotechnology experience.
• Experience in design and operation of Biopharmaceutical facilities (manufacturing and support).
• Experience with control systems (PLC, DCS, Loop controllers) desirable.
• Project management and coordination of capital projects in an industrial environment is required.
• Management and coordination of engineering and construction management consultants, equipment vendors and contractors is required.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with costs and schedules while ensuring quality and safety.

Responsibilities

• Lead root cause analysis, resolve major equipment breakdowns, and sustain maintenance programs.
• Plan and execute capital plant projects, oversee commissioning protocols, and manage engineering contractors.
• Serve as the technical owner of P&IDs and process equipment, leading tech transfers.
• Own change requests and CAPA actions, assist with deviation investigations, and lead quality risk assessments.
• Review and revise SOPs, batch records, and validation protocols, updating critical engineering documents and drawings.
• Act as the engineering SME during facility audits and inspections.
• Demonstrate safety leadership and balance priorities to meet milestones and timelines.
