Job summary

Bastian Automation seeks a Project Engineer to lead engineering design and execution for automotive conveyor and automated systems, ensuring compliance with OEM standards and safety requirements. You’ll support installation, commissioning, and customer design reviews while interfacing with cross-functional teams.

The role involves cradle-to-grave system layouts, BOM preparation, and cost forecasting with up to 30% travel for installation support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Mechatronics engineering or equivalent experience.
• 3–7 years of project engineering or system design in automotive conveyors/automation.
• Experience with automotive conveyor systems, ASRS, AutoStore, conveyor sortation, and robotic automation.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with Project Managers to support schedule, scope, and cost objectives.
• Coordinate engineering deliverables with controls, manufacturing, purchasing, installation, and commissioning teams.
• Support procurement with technical clarifications, vendor coordination, and drawing reviews.
• Participate in change management, including scope evaluation, engineering change notices (ECNs), and cost impacts.
• Prepare BOMs and engineering documentation to support procurement and manufacturing.
• Identify technical risks early and support mitigation planning.
