Job summary

Bastian Automation in Michigan is seeking a Project Engineer to lead the engineering design and execution of automotive conveyor and automated systems, including ASRS, AutoStore, and robotic solutions. You will own cradle-to-grave layouts and ensure compliance with customer specs, OEM standards, safety, and internal drawings.

You will collaborate with project managers and cross-functional teams, support manufacturing, installation, and commissioning, and help with risk mitigation, BOMs, and cost

Qualifications

• 4 year Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or Mechatronics; related experience considered.
• 3-7 years of experience in Project Engineering or system design within automotive conveyor or automated systems
• Experience with automotive conveyor systems, ASRS, AutoStore, conveyor sortation, and robotic automation
• Proficiency with CAD platforms such as AutoCAD, Inventor, SolidWorks, or equivalent
• Eligible to work in the USA long term without sponsorship

Responsibilities

• Support schedule, scope, and cost objectives with Project Managers.
• Coordinate engineering deliverables with controls, manufacturing, purchasing, installation, and commissioning teams.
• Prepare BOMs and engineering documentation to support procurement and manufacturing.
• Identify risks early and support mitigation planning.
• Provide on-site troubleshooting during installation and startup and assist with punch list resolution.
• Ensure designs meet customer specs, safety standards, and quality requirements.
• Mentor junior engineers as assigned.
