Who You Are:

You're an experienced project engineer who moves fluidly between technical depth and people leadership — equally comfortable reviewing a P&ID and walking a client through project status. You bring structure to complex, multi-disciplinary projects: managing scope, risk, schedule, and budget without losing sight of the engineering details underneath them. You communicate clearly and confidently with clients, vendors, and internal teams, and you don't wait to be asked before improving a process or mentoring a colleague. Grounded in a strong understanding of industrial systems and project execution, you bring sound judgment and follow-through to everything you own.

Required
  • Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • 7+ years in a technical role within a process industry (biogas/RNG preferred; water/wastewater, pulp & paper, oil & gas, etc. also considered), including at least 5 years in a project engineering or project management role.
  • Working knowledge of project governance, scope definition, change control, risk identification and mitigation, schedule and critical path management, resource planning, vendor/subcontractor management, procurement coordination, and document control.
  • Familiarity with industrial process equipment and engineered systems.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills (especially Excel), working knowledge of project management software, and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license in the state of residence; position is subject to annual DMV record screening in accordance with insurance and client requirements
  • Ability to pass a background check
Preferred
  • 10+ years in a technical role within a process industry, including 5+ years in project engineering or project management specifically within biogas/RNG.
  • Experience mentoring early-career engineers.
  • Familiarity with biogas/RNG systems and processes — anaerobic digestion, biogas conditioning/upgrading, H2S removal, moisture removal, siloxane/VOC treatment, CO2 removal/RNG upgrading, compression/flare/storage/gas handling, and digestate handling/nutrient recovery.
  • Proficiency with tools such as NetSuite, Click Up, and Microsoft Project.
  • PMP certification and/or a Professional Engineering (PE) license.
What You’ll Do:

As Senior Project Engineer, you'll guide biogas and RNG projects from design through execution, combining hands‑on engineering with project leadership. This is a client‑facing role: you'll serve as a key technical point of contact for clients, translating their requirements into action across engineering disciplines. Coordinating engineering resources across disciplines — mechanical, electrical, controls, and process — to keep project execution on track is central to the job, alongside managing vendor relationships and cross‑disciplinary collaboration. You'll also help shape how our North America engineering team works: standardizing documentation, improving processes, and mentoring the next generation of engineers. A strong understanding of industrial systems and project execution is essential.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Own project design and delivery: Coordinate system design, engineering reviews, equipment specification and procurement, and quality/safety compliance; review deliverables with clients and respond to Requests for Information (RFIs).
  • Coordinate across disciplines — mechanical, electrical, controls & automation, and process engineering, to keep projects moving as one team.
  • Advise commissioning teams with technical input and troubleshooting support.
  • Partner with sales to review proposed project scopes for feasibility and fit with HoSt's standard offerings, advising on adaptations to meet client needs.
  • Build and maintain standard engineering practices and documentation, and lead initiatives that improve design efficiency, reduce rework, and capture knowledge across the team.
  • Define technical strategy and resource allocation for incoming projects and help ensure consistent application of HoSt's engineering standards.
  • Mentor and onboard team members, including engineers, drafters, and interns, and contribute structured feedback to support performance reviews.

HoSt is an Equal Opportunity Employer; we celebrate diversity in the workplace and strive to maintain an inclusive work environment for all employees.
