Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards in Louisiana seeks a Senior Project Engineer to coordinate engineering tasks across disciplines, schedule activities, and manage the integrated master schedule, budgets, and technical activity for multiple vessel projects.

You will collaborate with the Director of Project Engineering, support business development and estimating, and provide on-site field engineering as needed to sustain project progress and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering (required).
• Minimum of 5 years of direct Project Engineering experience in marine construction.
• Strong leadership and communication skills; able to coordinate multiple disciplines.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule engineering tasks among various disciplines for assigned projects.
• Initialize, organize, and monitor engineering projects.
• Develop and control project deadlines, IMS, budgets, and technical activities.
• Oversee requirements analysis to ensure compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Provide field engineering services for timely resolution of engineering concerns at the production shipyard.
• Work with the Director of Project Engineering to integrate project activities and technical products.
• Provide technical support to business development, estimating, and on-site support teams.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for the project to customers, the Program Management Office, Production, Planning, Purchasing, Outside Design Agents, and Regulatory Authorities.

Job Title:

Senior Project Engineer

Job Overview:

A Project Engineer coordinates and schedules the engineering aspects of assigned projects across various engineering disciplines, including mechanical, piping, electrical, and naval architectural. Responsibilities include initializing, organizing, and monitoring engineering projects, developing and controlling deadlines (including development and maintaining integrated engineering master schedule (IMS)), budgets, and technical activities on multiple projects. The role ensures vessel compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer specifications, and regulatory agency requirements. The Project Engineer will work closely with the Director of Project Engineering to direct the integration of project activities and technical products, providing technical support to business development, estimating, and on-site support teams. The Project Engineer shall at the discretion of the Director of Project Engineering perform field engineering work related to the ongoing projects for which the Project Engineer is responsible. These efforts are to facilitate an ongoing relationship and liaison between engineering and the production shipyard program management team.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Minimum of 5 years of direct Project Engineering (or similar) experience in the design and development of marine new construction projects
• Minimum of 5 years of Engineering Experience

Skills And Abilities:

• Ability to recognize and organize the capabilities of project team members into an effective and efficient team.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Familiarity with USCG (CFR) and IMO statutory regulations (SOLAS, IBC) as well as classification requirements (ABS, LR, DNV).
• Must be a U.S. National.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office products and computer-assisted engineering software.
• Working knowledge of project management software (MS Project) and change management principles is a plus.
