Job summary

Bollinger Shipyards, Inc. in Lockport or Mandeville, LA seeks a Project Engineer to coordinate and schedule engineering tasks across disciplines, maintain IMS, deadlines, and budgets for multiple vessel projects.

You will work with the Director of Project Engineering to integrate activities, support business development and estimating, and provide field engineering to sustain strong ties with the shipyard program management team.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of marine project design experience.
• Familiarity with USCG and IMO regulations and classification basics.

Job Title: Project Engineer

Location: Lockport, LA or Mandeville, LA

Job Overview: A Project Engineer coordinates and schedules the engineering aspects of assigned projects across various engineering disciplines, including mechanical, piping, electrical, and naval architectural. Responsibilities include initializing, organizing, and monitoring engineering projects, developing and controlling deadlines (including development and maintaining integrated engineering master schedule (IMS)), budgets, and technical activities on multiple projects. The role ensures vessel compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer specifications, and regulatory agency requirements. The Project Engineer will work closely with the Director of Project Engineering to direct the integration of project activities and technical products, providing technical support to business development, estimating, and on-site support teams. The Project Engineer shall at the discretion of the Director of Project Engineering perform field engineering work related to the ongoing projects for which the Project Engineer is responsible. These efforts are to facilitate an ongoing relationship and liaison between engineering and the production shipyard program management team.

Key Responsibilities

• Coordinate and schedule engineering tasks among various disciplines for assigned projects.
• Initialize, organize, and monitor engineering projects.
• Develop and control project deadlines, IMS, budgets, and technical activities.
• Oversee requirements analysis to ensure compliance with engineering principles, company standards, customer specifications, and regulatory requirements.
• Capability to provide field engineering services for timely resolution of engineering concerns at the production shipyard.
• Work closely with the Director of Project Engineering to integrate project activities and technical products.
• Provide technical support to business development, estimating, and on-site support teams.
• Serve as the primary point of contact for the project to customers, the Program Management Office, Production, Planning, Purchasing, Outside Design Agents, and Regulatory Authorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in engineering.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience in the design and development of marine projects such as tugs, barges, offshore supply vessels, and small craft.

Skills And Abilities

• Ability to recognize and organize the capabilities of project team members into an effective and efficient team.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills.
• Familiarity with USCG (CFR) and IMO statutory regulations (SOLAS, IBC) as well as classification requirements (ABS, LR, DNV).
• Must be a U.S. National.
• Advanced knowledge of MS Office products and computer-assisted engineering software.
• Working knowledge of project management software (MS Project) and change management principles is a plus.
