Job summary

W&A Engineering is seeking a civil engineer with 5+ years of project experience for our Huntersville, NC office. You will work on land development projects, coordinate with clients and teams, and help produce plans including grading, drainage, utilities, and details.

The role requires strong communication skills, a team mindset, and proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D. PE license is a plus, and we offer a competitive benefits package and growth opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering required or equivalent; PE license preferred but not required.
• 5+ years of experience as a project engineer working on production projects.
• Experience in residential, commercial, multifamily, and industrial development.
• Knowledge of local municipal, county and state land use, planning and zoning processes.

Responsibilities

• Multitask in a fast-paced, collaborative environment across offices.
• Coordinate permits and conduct municipal outreach.
• Prepare site construction docs: demolition, layout, grading, drainage, utilities, details, and cost estimates.
• Conduct due diligence and site analyses; develop design solutions.

W&A Engineering is a growing, multidisciplinary firm offering civil engineering, landscape architecture, surveying, and program management with offices in Georgia and North Carolina. Known for our innovative design, efficient engineering, and professional service, W&A is the trusted partner of community leaders and developers driving sustainable growth throughout the United States. We are seeking 5+ year experienced civil engineers to join our Huntersville, NC office. From working with clients and across company departments to site visits to producing plans, you’ll be involved in many aspects of the land development process.

Responsibilities:

• Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced collaborative environment with teammates locally and at other office locations
• Permit coordination and municipal outreach
• Preparation of site construction documentation, including demolition plans, layout plans, erosion control plans, grading and drainage plans, stormwater management, utilities, site details, transportation improvements, and project cost estimates/analysis
• Due diligence and site analysis
• Preparation of engineering or technical computations and preparation of design solutions

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, PE license preferred but not required
• 5+ years of experience as a project engineering working on production
• Project experience within either residential, commercial, multifamily, and industrial
• Knowledge of local municipal, county and state land use, planning and zoning processes and regulations
• Team-oriented, with excellent communication skills
• Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, Land Development, Grading, Stormwater Management, Erosion Control, Site Utilities, and Permitting
