About the Company
Our client is a Houston-based energy technology and project development company focused on delivering innovative power generation solutions to meet the growing demand for reliable electricity. With a strong presence in the energy sector, the company is advancing natural gas power generation projects, particularly behind-the-meter solutions supporting large-scale data centers and industrial customers. Their development strategy focuses on rapid deployment, operational reliability, and flexibility across generation technologies, including gas turbines, reciprocating engines, and battery energy storage systems.
About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Project Engineer to support the development and execution of large-scale power generation projects. Working from the owner's perspective, you will serve as a key technical interface between engineering teams, EPC contractors, equipment suppliers, project management, and commercial stakeholders. You will be involved throughout the full project lifecycle, from early-stage development and feasibility through engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and commercial operation.
This position requires a strong understanding of power plant development and execution, with responsibility for coordinating multidisciplinary engineering activities, reviewing technical deliverables, managing engineering interfaces, and identifying potential project risks. You will play an important role in ensuring projects are technically sound, commercially viable, constructible, and delivered in accordance with project objectives.
About You
You are an experienced Project Engineer with 8+ years of experience supporting power generation, energy infrastructure, or similar major capital projects. You have worked directly for an Independent Power Producer (IPP) and understand what it takes to develop and deliver a power generation facility from an owner's perspective.
You bring experience coordinating multidisciplinary engineering teams, overseeing EPC contractors, and supporting projects through engineering, construction, commissioning, and startup. Ideally, you have worked on simple-cycle or combined-cycle gas turbine projects, behind-the-meter power generation, battery storage, or other complex generation facilities. Experience supporting power solutions for data centers, islanded microgrids, or reliability and availability modeling would be particularly valuable.
You hold a bachelor's degree in a relevant engineering discipline from an ABET-accredited program or a Professional Engineer (PE) license where the degree does not meet that requirement. Strong communication skills, commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple technical priorities are essential.
What's on Offer
This is an opportunity to join a growing energy technology company at an exciting stage of its development, with the chance to contribute to large-scale power generation projects supporting the evolving U.S. energy market. The position offers a base salary depending on experience, along with a 15% target annual performance bonus and a 15% long-term equity incentive with a three-year vesting schedule. The comprehensive benefits package includes medical, dental, and vision coverage, company HSA contributions on the eligible medical plan, short- and long-term disability, life insurance, and a 401(k) with a 3% employer contribution and immediate vesting. Employees also enjoy unlimited PTO, 10 scheduled holidays plus one floating holiday, and a hybrid working arrangement of three days in the Houston office and two days remote. Some project-related travel will be required.
