Job Overview

As a Roadway Lead at RK&K, you will work with a team of junior and senior engineers on transportation project design. You will have formal supervisory responsibilities for an engineering team working on alternative delivery projects. Our clients include local DOTs, municipalities, and opportunities to support work across RK&K's portfolio.

Essential Functions

1. Serve as a hands-on, project-based Roadway Discipline Lead for Florida Transportation Alternative Delivery projects, providing leadership, technical expertise, and oversight in roadway design production. Participation in non-alternative delivery projects is also expected.
2. Coordinate with other engineering disciplines within a team environment.
3. Promote the development and professional growth of RK&K's Florida roadway staff, especially in alternative delivery.
4. Prepare roadway plan set components, including plans, profiles, cross sections, and detail sheets.
5. Develop specifications packages and calculate quantities for construction cost estimates.
6. Coordinate with clients and sub-consultants.
7. Develop and mentor roadway staff.

Required Skills and Experience

1. 12+ years of progressive transportation engineering experience in roadway design.
2. Design Build or Alternative Delivery experience as a Roadway Designer on contractor-led teams.
3. Experience on FDOT projects using Microstation/GEOPAK or Open Roads Designer (ORD).
4. Familiarity with standards such as AASHTO, MUTCD, FDOT Standards.
5. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related field.
6. Professional Engineer (P.E.) license in Florida.

Preferred Skills and Experience

1. Experience as a Roadway Discipline Lead on Florida Design Build Transportation projects, including being the Engineer of Record.
2. Wide range of roadway design experience, including new facilities, expansion, and rehabilitation of arterials, highways, interstates, toll roads, and interchanges.
3. Experience coordinating during Design-Build pursuits and project execution.
4. Experience preparing Design-Build Statements of Qualifications, technical proposals, and development of quantities.
5. Ability to adhere to strict QA/QC requirements.
6. Ability to multitask, think creatively, and solve problems in a fast-paced team environment.
