Base pay range
$80,000.00/yr - $110,000.00/yr
Project Technologies and Services (PTS) is a Northeast Ohio-based consulting engineering and project management firm providing services to industrial facilities and commercial businesses. Our focus is to help our customers produce value that accelerates their profitability through teamwork and collaboration.
We are seeking an experienced full-time Senior Project Engineer to support industrial equipment installations, plant modifications, and process improvements for our clients. In addition to strong project engineering skills, the Senior Project Engineer will provide mechanical design expertise with a particular focus on industrial safety and machine guarding solutions.
This person will also be expected to take initiative to identify new opportunities for PTS by strengthening client relationships and expanding our presence within client facilities.
The majority of our projects are at industrial manufacturing facilities. Minimal travel may be required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide engineering and design expertise for projects related to equipment installations, facility expansions, process improvements, and industrial automation.
- Ability to design industrial mechanical systems and components
- Generate detailed mechanical drawings, layouts, and specifications using hand sketches, AutoCAD, and/or SolidWorks.
- Lead mechanical design and technical solution development for industrial safety upgrades and machine modifications.
- Actively engage with clients to build trust, uncover additional project needs, and propose solutions that lead to new work for PTS.
- Serve as a technical ambassador for PTS, helping to strengthen and grow long-term client relationships.
- Prepare and maintain project documentation, including technical reports, drawings, specifications, and compliance documents.
- Support project management functions, including:
- Assisting with project planning, scheduling, and budgeting
- Coordinating with internal teams, contractors, and vendors
- Providing technical support during installation and commissioning
- Ensure proper and safe installation practices by adhering to OSHA, ANSI, client-specific, and industry standards.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior engineers and design staff.
- Support project proposal and cost estimating efforts by developing technical scopes and budgets.
- Manage multiple engineering assignments simultaneously and prioritize deliverables to meet project deadlines.
- Support project closeout activities including as-built documentation and client handover deliverables.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- 5+ years of relevant engineering experience in an industrial manufacturing environment, including project engineering and mechanical design.
- Understanding of machine safety standards and best practices (OSHA, ANSI B11 series, ISO 13849, etc.).
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and/or SolidWorks for mechanical design and drafting preferred.
- Proficient in MS Excel and Word.
- Experience with equipment installations, modifications, and industrial automation projects preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and technical decision-making abilities.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; able to interact professionally with clients, contractors, and colleagues.
- Self-driven with a strong sense of ownership and accountability for engineering deliverables.
- Commercial awareness and initiative to recognize opportunities for additional services and project work.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently with minimal supervision.
