Base pay range

Consultant - Engineering Specialist | Harba Solutions Indianapolis

Responsibilities

  • Champion and promote a strong safety culture across all operations, including oversight of contractor safety and adherence to safety standards.
  • Lead capital projects from concept through startup, including design, procurement, installation, commissioning, and validation of processing equipment and systems.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in plant processes, procedures, and performance, implementing effective engineering solutions.
  • Participate in quality audits and investigations to support the production of high-quality products that meet or exceed customer expectations.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable environmental, health, and safety regulations (e.g., OSHA, EPA, RCRA, PSM, NEC), supporting internal EHS initiatives.
  • Coordinate and manage process hazard analyses (PHAs), including documentation of mass and energy balances, equipment specifications, P&IDs, and relief system evaluations.
  • Support food safety and quality initiatives through engineering project involvement and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Provide technical expertise to commercial teams and customers, supporting product applications and problem resolution.
  • Monitor daily production performance, troubleshoot process issues, and implement corrective actions to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Develop and deliver operating procedures and technical training for new systems and processes.
  • Mentor and guide junior engineers, interns, and co-op students, fostering technical development and performance growth.
  • Act as a technical resource for maintenance activities and contribute to equipment reliability initiatives.
  • Collaborate with site leadership to manage project workloads and provide support across functional teams as needed.
  • Facilitate effective communication across departments to ensure alignment and successful execution of engineering objectives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related technical field required.
  • Advanced training or certification in Project Management is a plus.
  • Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in process and/or project engineering within a manufacturing or chemical processing environment.
  • At least 5 years of experience managing capital projects, including direct interface with external contractors and vendors.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint); experience with AutoCAD and pipeline-sizing or process modeling software preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively across departments.
  • Fluent in English, with the ability to read and produce technical documentation.
