Job Summary

We are looking for a senior project development engineer in the federal market to join our Energy Solutions office in Fairfax, VA. This division is rapidly expanding, and the ideal candidate will be self-motivated, client-focused, and possess a strong technical background. Engineers with HVAC design and commissioning experience can transition effectively into this energy-focused role.

Responsibilities
  1. Introduce and explain performance contracting to potential clients.
  2. Highlight CMTA's unique approach to performance contracting.
  3. Lead development activities including site visits, audits, and energy calculations.
  4. Manage the engineering design team producing drawings and specifications.
  5. Oversee the bidding process.
  6. Develop final contracts with clients.
  7. Coordinate with construction managers to ensure smooth construction phases.
  8. Lead the commissioning process.
  9. Participate during the warranty phase as needed.
  10. Collaborate with M&V professionals to develop the first-year M&V report.
Required Experience
  • At least 5 years of experience with an Energy Services company or consulting engineering/commissioning firm in the federal sector.
  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
Desired Skills and Knowledge
  • Familiarity with DOE and Army Corps of Engineers IDIQ contracts.
  • Understanding of DOD cybersecurity requirements.
  • Knowledge of UFGC and UFGS standards for DoD facilities.
  • Experience with building utility management and control systems.
  • Proficiency in building simulation and spreadsheet modeling of ECMs.
  • Knowledge of HVAC, BMS, lighting, building envelope, and water systems.
  • Experience with microgrids, energy security, and cogeneration.
Additional Skills
  • Management and leadership skills.
  • Construction and engineering design expertise.
  • Experience in auditing, commissioning, and measurement & verification.
  • Consulting skills.
