Job summary

LaBella Associates in Richmond, VA is seeking a Senior Project Designer to lead architectural projects from concept through construction. This role drives design development, coordinates multidisciplinary teams, and ensures quality and schedule adherence, while mentoring staff and elevating studio standards.

The candidate will actively participate in client meetings and design reviews, coordinating documentation and project delivery with licensed architects and consultants to meet project goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture required.
• Actively pursuing architectural licensure.
• 6–10+ years of architectural experience.
• Experience leading architectural projects or major components.
• Strong design, planning, and coordination skills.
• Proficient in Revit and BIM-based project delivery.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural project efforts from concept design through construction.
• Coordinate project teams, consultants, and internal disciplines.
• Develop and maintain project design intent, quality, and consistency.
• Lead client meetings, design presentations, and workshops.
• Coordinate architectural documentation and multidisciplinary design requirements.
• Delegate and review work performed by project team members.
• Support Project Managers with project planning, scheduling, coordination, and delivery.
• Participate in construction administration, including submittal review and field observations.
• Mentor junior and mid-level staff in design, documentation, coordination, and project delivery.
• Provide design and technical review across selected studio projects.
• Facilitate collaborative design reviews and internal discussions.
• Contribute to business development, interviews, proposals, and client relationships.
• Help improve studio design standards, workflows, and project delivery processes.
• Work with licensed architects to ensure compliance with codes and regulations.
