Job summary

KPFF's Special Projects Group in downtown Seattle seeks a detail-oriented Project Cost Accountant to support Project Managers and Principals by delivering accurate financial insights, managing project costs, and handling subconsultant contracts and invoicing for a 150+ person engineering team.

The ideal candidate has at least five years of cost accounting, a degree in accounting/finance, strong Excel and Power BI skills, and a proactive, collaborative mindset.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years cost accounting experience in a professional office environment.
• BA degree preferred (AA degree minimum).
• Proficient in MS Office programs specifically Excel and Power BI, including Outlook, Word and PowerPoint.
• Desire to learn and work independently or collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong leadership, organizational, multi-tasking and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Positive attitude and demeanor.
• Experience in A/E/C industry desired but not required.
• Prior BST11 experience desired but not required.

Responsibilities

• Create and maintain all projects and expenses in BST11, including updating budgets and tasks.
• Collaborate with Project Managers for project setup, budget tracking, client billings, collections and ERP education.
• Prepare and process monthly client billings and oversee invoicing by other Project Cost Accountants.
• Improve and document monthly accounting workflows.
• Prepare end-of-month and end-of-year reports including revenue statements for multiple groups.
• Assist in setting and tracking overall budget for the reporting center.
• Run A/R inquiries to monitor collections.
• Provide project managers with financial information as requested.
• Collaborate with corporate accounting to meet deadlines.
• Contribute ideas for continuous improvement in accounting processes.
• Coordinate with three experienced project cost accountants across offices.
