Job summary

HED seeks an experienced Project Architect IV for our PreK–12 Education practice in the San Francisco Bay Area. You will lead medium- to large-scale projects from planning through closeout, managing docs, coordinating consultants, and navigating regulatory reviews to deliver high-quality educational facilities.

The ideal candidate brings extensive California PreK–12 project delivery experience, knowledge of DSA processes, and the ability to sign and seal documents as Architect of Record when

Qualifications

• 10+ years of professional architectural experience with strong delivery focus.
• Experience with California PreK-12 facilities and DSA processes.
• Proficient in Revit; Revizto experience preferred.
• Experience collaborating with school districts and public-sector stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead the planning, coordination, and technical execution of medium- to large-scale PreK–12 educational projects.
• Develop and oversee construction documents aligned with goals, design intent, DSA requirements, and codes.
• Create and manage the Discipline Work Plan (DWP) with the Project Manager.
• Coordinate work across disciplines, consultants, and production teams for seamless delivery.
• Foster relationships with districts, stakeholders, consultants, and regulatory agencies.
• Lead AHJ interactions including DSA and local permitting throughout review and approval processes.
• Guide project teams through DSA approval, including document prep and responses.
• Ensure documentation complies with DSA, CBC, and Accessibility Code; participate in meetings and workshops.
