Job summary

McKinney York Architects is seeking a Project Architect to join a concept-driven design firm recognized with AIA Austin and Texas Society of Architects awards. The candidate will manage multiple projects, collaborate across disciplines, and contribute to design excellence from concept through construction.

Ideal candidates have 8+ years of experience, a professional architecture degree, and proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp/FormIt.

Qualifications

• Professional degree in Architecture
• 8+ years’ work experience
• Revit, AutoCAD and Sketchup/Formit proficiency
• Ability to communicate design ideas via hand sketching, 3D computer renderings and verbal presentation skills
• Knowledge of architectural design, documentation, detailing, building materials, building codes and construction technologies
• Commitment to all aspects of sustainability

Responsibilities

• Understand and implement all aspects of the design process while ardently contributing to the overall success of the project and its adherence to the firm’s goals and standards of excellence in design and project delivery.
• Coordinate the development of project documentation including all construction drawings and details, quality assurance and completion.
• Maintain awareness of relevant advancements in building technology and engineering systems.
• Participate in construction administration with the review of shop drawings, material samples, and submittals for conformance with design.
• Administer project analysis by applicable agencies (accessibility, zoning, life-safety, etc.).
• Contribute to project marketing pursuits, proposal preparation, and interviews.
• Lead project teams by fostering collaboration and demonstrating clear and effective communication and direction that inspires high team performance.
• Provide effective and timely communication with project team including clients, consultants, contractors and other disciplines.
• Review work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and compliance with office standards.
• Participate in the development and mentorship of staff.
