Job summary

McKinney York Architects in Austin, TX is seeking a Project Architect with a decade of experience to lead design teams and deliver complex projects across residential, educational, religious, commercial, and civic sectors.

The role emphasizes self-direction, detail, and collaboration; responsibilities include coordinating construction drawings, QA, mentorship, and client communication, while advancing sustainability.

Qualifications

• Professional degree in architecture required.
• 8+ years of work experience.
• Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp/FormIt.
• Ability to communicate design ideas via hand sketching, 3D renderings and verbal presentation skills.
• Knowledge of architectural design, documentation, detailing, building materials, building codes and construction technologies.
• Commitment to all aspects of sustainability.
• LEED AP credentialed preferred.

Responsibilities

• Understand and implement all aspects of the design process while ardently contributing to the overall success of the project and its adherence to the firm’s goals and standards of excellence in design and project delivery.
• Coordinate the development of project documentation including all construction drawings and details, quality assurance and completion.
• Maintain awareness of relevant advancements in building technology and engineering systems.
• Participate in construction administration with the review of shop drawings, material samples, and submittals for conformance with design.
• Administer project analysis by applicable agencies (accessibility, zoning, life-safety, etc.).
• Contribute to project marketing pursuits, proposal preparation, and interviews.
• Lead project teams by fostering collaboration and demonstrating clear and effective communication and direction that inspires high team performance.
• Provide effective and timely communication with project team including clients, consultants, contractors and other disciplines.
• Review work for accuracy, omissions, legibility, and compliance with office standards.
• Participate in the development and mentorship of staff.
