Job description

Studio SFW, a Manhattan-based collaborative architecture and interior design studio, is seeking a Senior Project Architect with 8+ years of experience in high-end residential design to join our team. Working under the direction of our principals, this individual will contribute directly to the vision and successful execution of a range of residential projects.

Candidates should have relevant experience in architectural detailing, project management, exhibit strong design and organizational skills, and be able to contribute to a fast-paced, creative office. Candidates must demonstrate excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills and commit to establishing a positive and effective working relationship with all members of the project team, both internal and external. PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Strong experience with technical delivery
• Ability to manage and build-upon client relationships
• Knowledge of NYC code and zoning regulations; ability to interpret other applicable codes as they relate to the SFW project type
• Understand contracts and run projects from inception through to project closeout
• Manage project team, determining staffing assignments required to meet project milestones
• Responsible for day-to-day control and management of the architectural team (design through contract documents and contract administration) as well as the client and consultant teams
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects
• Proactively check and coordinate project documents
• Ability to assist in proposal writing and attending interviews for potential projects

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• Interface with external consultants and design teams to keep projects on schedule and budget
• Prepare and develop presentations and design documentation
• Produce and properly file meeting agendas and minutes, project notes, project memos, sketches, and other documents
• File and track all incoming documentation from other consultants

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture; advanced degree is a plus
• +8 years of experience in a residential architectural or interior design firm
• Construction Administration Phase experience, working with high-end residential builders and trades
• Demonstrated knowledge of the design process, products and materials
• Knowledge of commercial and/or residential project constructability, project costs, and building code requirements
• Proficiency in AutoCAD or similar (Studio SFW uses Vectorworks for 2D drafting), Adobe Creative Suite, esp. Photoshop & Indesign, and SketchUp
• Location in New York City, and ability to travel outside of the New York area on a regular basis
• Experience as a Project Architect reporting directly to a partner, with the day-to-day responsibility of managing relationships with the design team, clients, consultants, contractors, and others
