Job summary

Archinect in Hermosa Beach is seeking an experienced Senior Project Architect to lead design development through construction documentation for high-end residential projects across Los Angeles and Orange County. This hands-on role requires coordinating with consultants, guiding a small team, and shaping office standards while advancing the firm's growth and project delivery quality.

California licensure is preferred but not required.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional architectural experience.
• Strong experience with high-end custom residential architecture.
• Excellent construction documentation and detailing skills.
• Experience independently managing projects through DD and CDs.

Responsibilities

• Lead projects through design development and construction documentation.
• Develop comprehensive, well-coordinated drawing sets.
• Resolve architectural details and complex building conditions.
• Coordinate structural, civil, MEP, landscape, interiors, and other consultants.
• Manage permitting and plan-check processes with Los Angeles area jurisdictions.
• Coordinate directly with clients, consultants, and contractors.
• Provide technical guidance and drawing review for other team members.
• Participate in project meetings and construction administration.
• Contribute to the continued development of office standards, details, templates, and project-delivery workflows.

About the Studio

We are a small, design-focused architecture studio in Hermosa Beach specializing in high-end custom residential projects throughout Los Angeles and Orange County. Our work is focused primarily on ground-up residences, with an emphasis on thoughtful design, strong client relationships, and close collaboration with talented contractors, interior designers, landscape architects, and consultants.

We maintain a casual, collaborative studio environment while taking the quality of our architecture and project delivery seriously. As a small team, everyone has meaningful involvement in our projects, with opportunities to contribute ideas, take ownership of their work, and grow professionally as the practice evolves.

With a growing portfolio of residential work, we are looking for an experienced Senior Project Architect who is equally invested in design and the technical execution required to bring it to life. This is a hands-on role with direct involvement in projects from design development through construction, as well as the opportunity to help shape the continued growth of the studio. For the right person, the position has the potential to develop into a larger leadership role within the firm over time.

Responsibilities

• Familiarity with Los Angeles area codes, permitting, and plan-check processes
• Ability to manage multiple project responsibilities and work with a small collaborative team
• Strong communication skills and professional judgment
• California architectural licensure preferred, but not required

Experience with SketchUp, AutoCAD, and Adobe Creative Suite required. Strong proficiency in Revit and/or Archicad is highly desirable.

Compensation:

$110,000-$150,000+, commensurate with experience and qualifications.
