Job description

The Senior Architect / Senior Project Manager leads residential projects from concept through construction, working closely with the principal and the rest of the studio. They work collaboratively to develop project designs, obtain permits, and conduct construction administration. As a senior member of a small team, you'll also help shape how the studio works and grows — mentoring newer staff, strengthening our standards, bringing ideas that move the practice forward, and collaborating with the rest of your team. As we’re an architecture and interior design practice, you will collaborate with our interiors team to ensure that the project has a cohesive design direction from foundational concepts through finishes and furnishings.

Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively on high-end residential projects
  • Develop projects through all architectural phases (PD, DD, CD, CA)
  • Present and discuss design work with clients, and guide them through decisions across each phase.
  • Coordinate with consultants, and support the project through permitting and construction administration.
  • Review the work of junior staff and help develop their skills.
  • Contribute to the studio's direction, standards, and culture as a senior member of a small team.
Qualifications
  • Professional degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch).
  • 8+ years of professional experience, primarily in high-end single-family residential work.
  • Strong design ability, with command of space planning and building systems for residential projects.
  • Proficiency in a 3D modeling software (Rhino or SketchUp)
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD
  • Proficiency in Revit (preferred)
  • Proficiency in Adobe Photoshop (preferred)
  • Strong communication and client-presentation skills
  • Strong ability to sketch and develop ideas by hand or digitally.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines.
  • Familiarity with California residential practice — code and permitting
  • California architectural license strongly preferred, or eligibility to sit for the Architect Registration Examination.
