HDR’s Columbus Architecture studio is seeking a Senior Project Architect to join our growing practice with expertise in healthcare design.

For nearly 60 years, HDR has delivered award-winning healthcare planning and design for leading medical centers and health systems. Ranked as the #1 Healthcare Design firm 23 times by Modern Healthcare, we understand our clients' missions and business. Using evidence-based design methodologies, we integrate clinical, operational, and facility planning to support strategic objectives. Our global healthcare practice provides innovative design solutions that improve health and human conditions.

As a Senior Project Architect, your responsibilities will include:

  • Leading multidisciplinary teams and performing layout and detailing on architectural projects
  • Coordinating work across teams through all project phases
  • Managing meetings with clients and internal teams, and participating in reviews with governing agencies for code compliance
  • Conducting site work sessions with project managers and disciplines
  • Managing workload to ensure timely completion of documents
  • Reviewing architectural documents for conflicts and compliance
  • Performing QA/QC and technical reviews
  • Writing and editing architectural specifications
  • Coordinating with disciplines on addenda, RFIs, change orders
  • Incorporating changes into project documents
  • Leading projects in dual management roles as needed
  • Providing construction contract administration as required
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Architecture
  • Experience in healthcare facilities
  • Interest in sustainable design/LEED
  • Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator, SketchUp, 3D Studio Max, Rhino, Grasshopper

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Architecture or related field
  • Minimum 10 years of experience
  • Registered Architect
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Project)
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit and related tools
  • Graphic presentation skills
  • Experience in preparing architectural contract documents and specifications
  • Knowledge of codes and planning
