Job summary

LS Power is seeking a Senior Project Accountant to join its Regulatory Accounting team. This role serves as a key liaison between the project management, regulatory accounting, and fixed asset accounting teams — ensuring capital project activity is accurately tracked, reported, and reflected across all three functions.

The ideal candidate goes beyond recording transactions, acting as a proactive financial partner who flags budget overruns early and challenges cost classifications before they hit

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.
• 2+ years accounting experience with capital project or construction accounting.
• Experience with regulated utility accounting or willingness to develop this expertise; FERC U.S.A. knowledge preferred.
• Public accounting experience with Big 4 or national firm is a plus.
• Experience with budgeting and variance analysis.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and accounting principles.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate with AP, procurement, and project development teams for accurate capital project coding.
• Review construction invoices against budgets; maintain a change order log and track retainage.
• Assist month-end close, accruals, and reconciliations for project balances.
• Coordinate CWIP balances and plant-in-service transfers with project managers and fixed asset team.
• Assist with FERC asset unitizations and related support.
• Support annual budget process and project financial reporting.
